Child Pornography

Child pornography is one of the most serious types of criminal offenses that a person may be accused of committing.  Whether it is possession of child pornography or allegations of child pornography distribution and/or receipt, people face more than just a long term of imprisonment.  Those accused of child pornography offenses face a ruined reputation and career as well as mandatory sex offender registration.  Specific penalties and other consequences of child pornography convictions vary depending on the nature of the offense as well as the quantity of child pornography involved.

The possession of any form of child pornography is illegal under state and federal law.  This includes photographs, digital video footage or film depicting child pornography.  The child pornography may be physically present or may be located on one’s computer.  It does not matter how a person came to possess the child pornography, as long as they knew of its presence a person may face child pornography charges.  The severity of the child pornography charges may vary depending on the amount found.  Child pornography charges are often complex and may involve a number of different specific actions.  Frequently those accused of child pornography offenses suffer from internet addiction/pornographic addiction or other sexual addictions.  While pornography addiction, internet addiction and/or sexual addiction are not defenses to these allegations they are significant mitigating factors if you or a loved one is accused of a child pornography offense you need a lawyer with experience in addressing internet addiction, pornography addictions and other sexual addictions.
